Artists from opposite U.S. coasts will come together for a three-part exhibit at 黑料科鈥檚 Furlong Gallery.
Adam Henry, an abstract artist from Brooklyn, N.Y., and Anders Nilsen, a cartoonist and graphic novelist from Portland, Ore., will present 鈥淭he Future of What.鈥 An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, and the exhibit will run through Saturday, March 31.
Furlong Gallery is in Micheels Hall, next to the Applied Arts Building, 415 13th Ave. E.
鈥淭he Future of What鈥 will feature individual works by both artists as well as collaborative pieces that the longtime friends worked on for several years.
Henry, from Brooklyn, N.Y., has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University School of Art. His works, primarily based on four colors, were part of a group exhibit in New York that closed Feb. 18 and are in a group exhibit through April 27 in Milan, Italy. He will have a solo exhibit in Brussels, Belgium, opening May 17.
Recent events for Nilsen, who partially grew up in Minneapolis, have been in Seattle, Vancouver, Minneapolis and UW-Madison. He has an art degree from the University of New Mexico, where he and Henry met as freshmen.
Nilsen鈥檚 graphic novels have been translated into several languages. He received the Lynd Ward Prize for the graphic novel. One of his nine books, 鈥淏ig Questions,鈥 was a New York Times Notable Book in 2011.
