Chancellor Bob Meyer said Monday, Aug. 27, that the Stout University Foundation’s first comprehensive campaign, Pathways Forward, is already well on its way to meeting its $35 million goal and that the nearly two-year public phase of the campaign will begin Friday, Sept. 14.
Meyer’s comments came as faculty and staff gathered to kick off the 2018-19 academic year at ºÚÁÏ¿Æ. The first day of fall semester classes is Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Meyer, in his fifth annual Opening Day address in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center, said that although more than $30 million has been raised so far, the public phase is incredibly important and will require the support of everyone on campus to ensure its success.
He also announced the , in honor of Chancellor Emeritus Charles W. Sorensen; and previewed the 2019-21 state budget request to be submitted by UW System, noting that it includes requests for continuation of the performance-based funding initiative, as well as funding proposals that align with UW or legislative priorities, as well as increased compensation for faculty and staff.
The chancellor noted that ºÚÁÏ¿Æ this semester is beginning a new Bachelor of Science degree in applied biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as adding an electrical engineering component to the existing computer engineering undergraduate degree.
Finally, Meyer outlined the steps that are being taken to address the current enrollment challenges facing ºÚÁÏ¿Æ.
After Meyer’s remarks, small group Engagement Sessions were held campuswide for faculty and staff. The annual sessions allow employees to provide input on key issues identified through the university’s inclusive planning process.
