The man behind “The Manitowoc Minute” will perform for about 90 minutes at Ͽ.
Comedian Charlie Berens takes the stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for Ͽ students and $25 for the public. Separate tickets, $15, are available for a meet-and-greet with Berens at 9:30 p.m. They can be or at the service desk in the Memorial Student Center, 715-232-1122.
Berens is a Wisconsinite whose goal is to make other Wisconsinites laugh at themselves. He is known for his short online videos that poke fun at his home state. He has expanded the video posts to the “Keep ’er Movin’” variety show using his exaggerated Wisconsin accent.
Just so ’ya know, he likes to wear camouflage, would like to change Wisconsin’s motto, Forward, to Keep ’er Movin’ and really, really doesn’t like the Chicago Bears.
Berens has been playing to sold-out venues around the state. “With Berens, it feels more like having fun than making fun,” the Green Bay Press-Gazette said of his show. “That’s a credit to his spot-on observations of his fellow Wisconsinites and his infectious enthusiasm for his home state. It makes him both genuine and genuinely likable.”
Berens also is an actor and award-winning journalist and has hosted shows for Fox, CBS Sports Network and Variety.
The show will be hosted by Blue Devil Productions, a student-run events and entertainment organization, and co-sponsored by High Gear Promotions.
