A University of Wisconsin-Stout mechanical engineering student has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship.
Lucas Morgan, of Cameron, received the scholarship from PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.
Morgan, a senior who is graduating in May 2019, said he was pleased with the scholarship. 鈥淚 was extremely ecstatic,鈥 Morgan said. 鈥淭his was definitely nice to get my last year.鈥
Morgan, a 黑料科 football player and a member of the university鈥檚 Student Senate, said he likes the hands-on aspect of mechanical engineering, seeing an issue and then determining how to resolve it.
鈥淭hese students represent the potential of the next generation workforce to transform the packaging and processing industries,鈥 said Kate Fiorianti, PMMI education manager, in a news release. 鈥淭he application criteria, including the 3.0 grade point average requirement and industry involvement criteria, means we truly are recognizing the best and brightest and giving them the resources to transfer academic success into professional excellence.鈥
Two other students, Jenna Fowler of Oklahoma State University, a food and beverage processing major, and Joshua Siegel, Rutgers University, an electrical engineering major, also each garnered $5,000 scholarships from PMMI.
The PMMI Foundation awards more than $200,000 each year to students at PMMI partner schools.
