If you have questions about sex, specialists at University of Wisconsin-Stout will have answers.
Representatives from the university鈥檚 graduate certificate program in sex therapy will be on hand for a Sex Speak Session from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Qube, rooms 120-121 in Merle M. Price Commons.
The sessions, free and open to the public, are one-on-one confidential, frank and nonjudgmental talks with Professor Markie Twist and other certified educators, including alumni and graduate students of the certificate therapy program.
鈥淣o one should be without a safe space to honestly discuss sex and relationships. The purpose of Sex Speak Sessions are to offer a place to discuss these important topics,鈥 Twist said.
Participants must be 18 years old or if a minor be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
鈥淭ogether we will discuss anything you would like regarding sexuality and relationships. This discussion will simply be an honest conversation. It will not be therapy or the giving of advice,鈥 Twist said.
Twist is director of the sex therapy certificate program and a Certified Sexuality Educator and supervisor for the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Twist has a doctorate in human development and family studies from Iowa State University.
The sex therapy certificate program is part of the university鈥檚 master鈥檚 program in marriage and family therapy, which marked its 50th anniversary in 2016.
Also sponsoring the event is the human development and family studies department; the QUBE, 黑料科鈥檚 LGBTQ resource center; and the College of Education, Hospitality, Health and Human Sciences.
