Beginning with Research Day on Monday, April 29, student research will be highlighted the final two weeks of the 2018-19 academic year at 黑料科.
Commencement is Saturday, May 4, and final exams are the week of May 6-10.
Research Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Great Hall and ballrooms of the Memorial Student Center. About 200 student and faculty projects will be on display, along with oral presentations and awards.
Also on April 29, the PCEM 5 + 8 event will be in Harvey Hall, featuring the work of professional communication and emerging media seniors. From 4 to 4:45 p.m. students will discuss their work in room 343. From 4:45 to 6 p.m., student project showcases will be in room 355, the Digital Humanities Lab.
The variety of student work includes Twitterbots, augmented reality, magazine production and podcasts.
The engineering and technology department will have a variety of senior project presentations. The schedule includes:
- Monday, April 29: Computer and electrical engineering, from 10 a.m. to noon, room 210N, Fryklund Hall, including projects on an air hockey goalie and a Bluetooth speaker
- Tuesday, April 30: Mechanical engineering and manufacturing engineering concurrent design, from 10:10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., room 208 Heritage Hall, including projects on Lake Menomin algae processing
- Wednesday, May 1: Engineering technology, from 10:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., room 172, Jarvis Hall Technology Wing, including projects on alternative fuels, a flight simulator and metal 3D printer
- Wednesday, May 1: Computer and electrical engineering, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., room 201N, Fryklund Hall, including projects on including a coffeemaker and a search-and-rescue drone.
- Wednesday, May 1: Medical device packaging, six presentations, from 12:20 to 2:20 p.m., room 206, University Library
- Thursday, May 2: Mechanical engineering and manufacturing engineering concurrent design, six projects, from 10:10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., room 208 Heritage Hall, including a project on solar panels
- Friday, May 3: Mechanical and manufacturing engineering system design, nine projects, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., room 131 Heritage Hall
- Tuesday, May 7: Engineering technology, from 8 to 9 a.m., room 172, Jarvis Hall Technology Wing, including projects on including motorcycle conversion to a three-wheel vehicle and wood gasification
Also, from the School of Art and Design, the Stout Game Expo featuring more than 60 student-made games that attendees can play, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 2; and the Senior Show, featuring the work of about 100 seniors from various art and design disciplines, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 3.
